Come with us to see the Reef Lighthouses up close.

4th Annual December Fund Raising Boat Trips

Please read the entire section, even if you have done previous boat trips. This year we will start on Friday, December 6th, 2013 for the meet and greet at Key West Lighthouse. They are opening it for us after hours, so we can see the sunset from the lighthouse. The gift shop will be open. Saturday will be an afternoon trip to Sand Key lighthouse. This will be a bit different than the other trips as we are going on a pirate ship (the Jolly Rover II), complete with cannons (cool). Please note this ship has a few less seats, so don't wait too long to sign up. That night you can explore downtown Key West on your own or with friends from the trip. Sunday, we will have a sunset trip to American Shoal (so plenty of time to recover from Saturday fun). This trip will be mid afternoon to have time to get to the lighthouse and take day time pictures and then watch a sunset with the lighthouse in the background. Monday we go up to Sombrero Key lighthouse for another sunset. For those who wanted a Dry Tortugas trip, I am still working on that. Permits are limited as to who can take you out and a daily limit on the number of the people going to the Park. Most likely it would be a day or two before the rest of the trip, IF I can make it work.

Now for some details on how this works. For each leg of the trip to go, we need at least 20 people to sign up. For Saturdays trip there is a limit of 37 people who can sign up, for the other 2 trips 40 people. For Key Largo, unlimited (Key West too). Once you send me your money by check or PayPal it can not be cancelled, unless we have sold out and have somebody on the list to take your place (once I have money from them, I can refund to you). Last year several people from the waiting list got to go.

Now the money. It is based on what we have to pay for the charter. If the Captain says it is unsafe to go out everyone gets a full refund. A check will be mailed. The fees:

Key West Lighthouse $5.00 (this is half the normal price, this goes to the Key West Lighthouse).

Sand Key Lighthouse - pirate ship $140 includes water and coolers, you can BYOB (all the charters for this one were expensive, but this one is more fun).

American Shoal Lighthouse - $53 this is the sunset trip.

Sombrero Key Lighthouse - $82 this is a sunset trip.

This would be a total of $280 for the above 4 lighthouses, but if you book all of them the cost will be $250.

***** You can write a check to FKRLF and mail to FKRLF, c/o Eric S. Martin, 1067 Drift Creek Cove, Orlando, FL 32828 OR pay by PayPal http://www.reeflights.org/Donations_PayPal.htm ALSO please fill out this form, it can come in handy, last time as we need to call everyone on the boat trip the night before due to a charter change (which changed the dock location).

Holiday Inn Rates for checking in 12-8 or 12-9 and checking out 12-10 are $119.00 a night plus tax for 2 queen beds. Call 305-289-0222 and tell them you have the rate with the Florida Keys Reef Lights Foundation. The 20 rooms will be held until November 8, 2013, after that would be full rate.

There are museums and attractions in the Keys if you are coming early or staying late. I will try to put together a list.

LAST, but not least, I am asking for one volunteer each day to help out (no pay, but a thank-you and a smile). What would you do, simple stuff like handing out ginger snaps or asking if people have signed the list for the boat trip for that day.

DEADLINE for trips August 30, 2013.

QUESTIONS? email me ericlighthouse@yahoo.com or call 407-341-7374 (please note updates or changes will be on here).
